This was a 12-month Islamic arts project, supported by Arts Council England, delivered with families and communities across Leicester. This project has now concluded.

On the 16th December ‘23 we delivered one of our Family workshops @ Leicester Gallery! Just check out how much fun we had creating patterns: my favourite was the floral Palestine flag!

‘The Flower of Life’ pattern was an awesome way to begin our project. It is recognised in many cultures throughout history including Christianity, Muslim, Hindu and many more. Some believe it to represent the cycle of creation.
The grid itself has so many possibilities. In our online class, we found a few variations within the curvy lines. Can you spot any more?


I delivered the ‘Flower of Life’ pattern in the online class. As well as compass practise, we hunted and created more patterns that can be formed using the Flower of Life as a grid.


The last two classes at Coleman Lodge combined the Geometric 8 point star pattern with a floral pattern!
